Background and objectives: Maximal strength assessment of knee extensors in older adults using elastic resistance bands have rarely been addressed even though resistance training using elastic bands have shown large effects on muscle strength in this group of people. We therefore aim to determine the validity of maximal knee extension strength assessment using elastic resistance bands in older women and men.

Objective: To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis on the efficacy of laser therapy (LT) for rotator cuff (RC) tendinopathy in adults. Methods: A literature search was conducted in four databases for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published until May 2014, comparing the efficacy of LT to any other intervention. RCTs’ characteristics were extracted using a standardized form and the risk of bias was evaluated using the Cochrane Risk of Bias tool. Data were summarized qualitatively or quantitatively (meta-analysis).

Cancer-related fatigue is one of the most common problems experienced by 70% of cancer patients during and after chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Psychological problems like depression, anxiety and mood variations follow the diagnosis of cancer and subsequent treatment with chemotherapy. The incidence of psychologic problems is found to be greater when cancer is associated with activity limitations. Psychological problems such as fatigue, anxiety and depression are assessed using unidimensional and multi-item unidimensional tools. Clinical trials have shown that physical activity in the form of brisk walking is beneficial in minimizing the effect of psychological effects by reducing the fatigue levels, depression, anxiety and enhancing the quality of life in cancer survivors.

Study objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness on muscle strength, flexibility, pain and function of a six-week physiotherapy treatment for patients with Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome delivered in a district North-West Wales National Health Service Hospital.

Background: Hip fracture has a high risk of mortality and puts a large financial burden on the health care system. Context and Purpose: A successful hip fracture rehabilitation project at a Swedish university hospital resulted in reduced length of hospital stay, earlier returns to pre-accident housing, and decreased costs. The purpose was to identify promoters and obstacles of change in the improvement project.

Improving the quality of life (QOL) of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) is one of the goals of supports providers. This study’s goal is to analyze the contribution of a psychomotor intervention in water on the QOL and aquatic skills of adults with IDD. All 29 participants, four males and twenty-five females, with ages ranging from 19 to 45 years old (28.55±5.49), diagnosed with “mild” and “moderate” IDD at the Occupational Activity Center (OAC), were evaluated by the Portuguese version of Personal Outcomes Scale and the Ficha de Avaliação do Comportamento em Meio Aquático in three different moments (baseline, final and retention) A Psychomotor Program Intervention in water was implemented during four months, of three 50 minute sessions per week. Findings showed benefits of psychomotor intervention in the promotion of some QOL domains and aquatic skills of adults with IDD. Differences were found on QOL domains and aquatic skills. Implications for future research and psychomotor practice are discussed.

Introduction: The aim of the presented study was to investigate the effect of an inpatient rehabilitation stay with application of therapeutical nuclear magnetic resonance therapy (NMRT) in 150 patients with painful shoulder diseases in a controlled trial.

Background and objectives: Mechanical perturbations in seated positions caused by driving on irregular terrain destabilize the driver which, combined with the drivers’ posture, may cause musculoskeletal disorders. The aim of this study was to investigate adaptation and the effect of different head postures on seated postural reactions caused by perturbations.

Introduction: Distal Radius Fracture is one of the most common fractures in forearm. Chronic pain after these fractures could affect as much as 30% of patients. 22 to 39% incidence of Complex Regional pain Syndrome (CRPS) has been reported in patients with distal radius fractures. Spinal PA mobilization has generalized sympathoexcitatory effects, stimulate pain inhibitory descending pathways from Periaqueductal grey of brain and produce immediate hypoalgesia.
